Sacramento State Club Volleyball traveled to Louisville, Kentucky April 1-3, to compete in the National Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships hosted by the NCVF in partnership with USA Volleyball. The men competed in Division I while the women competed in Division II during this 3 day tournament.
For day 1 pool play, the Hornet men lost in 3 to #10 Long Beach and #15 UW Whitewater before falling to Navy in 2. This placed the men in a consolation power pool for day 2. In power pool play, the Hornet men had to win both matches in order to earn a spot in the silver bracket for day 3. Sac State played Purdue and Boston University and defeated both in 3. On the final day, Sac State swept the University of Central Florida before falling in 3 to #14 UC Davis during the Silver Quarterfinals. The Hornet men placed 21st at the National Championship Tournament.
The Hornet women competed in Division II at the National Tournament which placed teams into a 5 team pool. These pools competed over the first 2 days of the tournament which placed them into bracket play on day 3. Women's Division II did not play power pools. During pool play the Hornet women swept Georgia Southern, UW Stout and Western Michigan before falling to Loyola and finishing 2nd in pool play. The Hornet women then had to play a challenge round match against UW River Falls. Sac State lost to UW River Falls and were placed in the Silver Bracket for the final day of the tournament. During bracket play, the Hornet women defeated Ithaca in 3 in the first round, then swept Western Illinois in the quarter finals. The Sac State women then fell to Virginia in the semifinal match, placing the Hornets 19th at this years National Championships.
